When it comes to sharing your products, services, and other business or organization news there is no other print format as versatile as the booklet.  Put simply, when it comes to communicating booklets rule!

I know, you probably think it a bit odd that we get so excited about these things, but it is true.  Just think about all the ways booklets are used: menus, product promotion, company brochures, newsletters, event and performance programs are just a few examples of how booklets make their impressions on us every day.  We have even noticed a rise in booklet labels on a variety of household and garden products.  Now, we don’t print those, I’m just saying – booklets are everywhere.

As the name suggests, a booklet is nothing more than a small book.  In most cases though, booklets will have a paper cover rather than a hard cover.  Like books, they are ever so portable, but there are differences too.  Booklets are much cheaper and faster to print.

In every case, booklets should be designed to serve your advertising or marketing goals.  Attention to detail is important, your booklet not only needs to look good it also has to be informative.

For more than 30 years Heritage Printing and Quick Copy has been printing booklets for our Atlanta area customers.  As you might imagine, we have become quite skilled at both designing and printing booklets. Since there are a number of options, if you are thinking about creating a booklet to help meet your business or organization’s goals here are a few thing to keep in mind.

Booklet Design and Printing

When planning your booklet keep in mind that the page count must be a minimum of four pages and the page count should only increase by multiples of four, otherwise you will end up with blank pages.  To illustrate this, simply take a piece of paper and fold it in half to make a crude booklet.  Notice there is the front page, two inside pages, and a back page.  A booklet is created by nesting successive pages together, so if your page count isn’t in multiples of four, there will be a blank page somewhere.

As your booklet’s page count increases, you will need to think about binding options to hold the pages together.  In our facility, we can produce up to a 160-page booklet with saddle stitched binding. This cost effective binding method is simply stapling through the centerfold [aka saddle stitching] to join a set of nested pages into a single booklet.  Most comic books are well known examples of this binding method.  We can also bind booklets using GBC (plastic rings) and coil binding.

You also have a range of color options for your booklet design.  You can go full color throughout the booklet, or two colors, or just use color on the cover and black and white on the inside. Almost any combination is possible.

Choosing the page size of your booklet is also a consideration.  8.5” x 11” pages size works great for business and sales booklets, company newsletters, and even for menus.  We can also produce smaller booklets at 5.5” x 8.5”, which are ideal for for special events, theater programs, and ideal for direct mail marketing to customers and prospects.

How many booklets do you need? We can produce short runs of less than 100 booklets quickly and better yet – it is very affordable.  However, if you need a greater number – we can do that too.
